Located on the Falling Water River in White County, TN, this day-use park is noted for its natural beauty and four waterfalls that cascade down from over 250 feet in elevation. The last of these falls is the most spectacular, plunging more than 130 feet into the gorge. The area was originally populated by Native Americans of the Cherokee, Creek and Chickasaw tribes. These tribes used the land as a hunting ground until the late 19th century when a gristmill and sawmill began operating on the river. The Falling Water River was used to generate hydroelectric power for the city of Cookeville from 1928-1944. In 1973, the territory became a designated Tennessee State Natural Area, protecting the diverse forest and aquatic habitats. The park is open from 8 AM – 4 PM CT each day. Please note: Park is closed when the river is high or when there is snow on the roads and/or trails.

City lake and natural area, located off Bridgeway Drive, is a favorite spot among fishermen seeking catfish, bass and bream. Kayakers glide across the 35-acre lake as well. Cookeville’s first water treatment facility was constructed here. A short trail takes walkers past a historic structure toward the invigorating sight of cascading waters. To get there from downtown Cookeville, go east on Highway 70N, cross over Interstate 40 (at Exit 290), turn left on Poplar Grove Road and go straight onto Bridgeway Drive. Keep going to the lake.

Cummins Falls State Park is a 282-acre state park located northwest of Cookeville in Jackson County in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Its namesake, Cummins Falls, is a 75-foot waterfall, which is located on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River. Park Hours are 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM (offseason) and 6:00 PM (in-season). The gorge area closes at 5:00 PM (in-season). People at the bottom of the waterfall must start walking out at 5:00 PM in order to get back to the parking lot and be out of the park by 6:00 PM.

Edgar Evins State Park is a state park in DeKalb County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The park consists of 6,300 acres along the shores of Center Hill Lake, an impoundment of the Caney Fork. The State of Tennessee leases the land from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The park provides many recreational opportunities, cabins, and campsites on one of the most beautiful reservoirs in Tennessee. The park also has a large on-site marina with a restaurant and gift shop.
